Monkeying around in Bali

Is it possible that this darling little creature could really be an “attack monkey?” Many things are possible in Bali’s mysterious monkey forest. Read all about it in Linda Watanabe McFerrin’s lovely piece, “Comparing primates in Bali’s monkey sanctuary,” which appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle’s travel section last month. http://bit.ly/K02um4

And, get ready for more. Linda’s piece–along with twenty others, including two of my own stories–will appear in the upcoming Wanderland Writers anthology, Wandering in Bali: A Tropical Paradise Discovered, out June 1.

The cute creature in this photo looks so innocent. But I personally saw him wrestle that bottle away from a grown man. The fact that my favorite JunglePants insulated water bottle made it through the monkey forest gauntlet unscathed is just one small victory on my journey along the potholed road.

Do you have a favorite monkey encounter?
